Our tip for travelers with time: The „Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket“ (special weekend train ticket) from the Deutschen Bahn. With this ticket, five adults (or parents/grandparents with an unlimited number of their own children under 15 years) can travel on a Saturday or Sunday until 3 am the next day wherever they want (in the second class) for just 28 Euro. This ticket is valid for all regional trains (=S, RB, RE) and the S-Bahn. Upon arrival in Munich, all travel on the MVV (Munich Transport Association – network of trains and busses) is also free of charge.

Another special offer from the Deutsche Bahn is the “Bayern-Ticket”. This ticket is valid for five adults (or parents/ grandparents with an unlimited number of their own children under 15 years) for all regional trains (=S, RB, RE) in the second class within Bavaria and the MVV train network. The ticket costs 21 Euro and is valid for one weekday (Monday – Friday) for travel between 9 am and 3 am on the following day.

The Oktoberfest can easily be reached from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) via public transportation, or on foot (ten minutes).
